PDG-R funds will support the overall alignment of the early leaning and care (ELC) and K-12 systems by funding the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to conduct pilot work that would inform a potential higher education accreditation system for early educator preparation in California. This is an important step in aligning ELC preparatory efforts throughout the state and supporting alignment with the early elementary workforce.
The program quality peer review process is working as designed. Feedback from the micro-pilots have confirmed the utility and ease of use of the accreditation process. The Commission on Teacher Credentialing team is reflecting on the process and incorporating feedback from the participating micro-pilot institutions and peer reviewers.
